Fourfoursixsix were approached to create a design proposal for the top floor of a 45 storey building in Bangkok. The brief, to create a member’s hotel, required a response which hybridised elements of both a Member’s Bar and a Boutique Hotel into one holistic scheme.
Coupled with specific architectural interventions, a simple yet careful positioning of facilities takes the user from public through to increasingly private spaces. This was intended to blur the traditionally strong boundary between room and hotel.
Envisioned as a complex series of spaces interlinked within the rectilinear form of the plan, the initial concept diagrams show how a unique architectural ‘intervention’ might form a hotel landscape one could reside in, on, under or around. No space is ever fully enclosed, yet privacy can be carefully managed from fully public to entirely intimate.
