Due to the clients desire to utilise and maximise clean, open-plan space, it was proposed that the existing timber structure for the lower ground level be replaced with a new steel system, allowing longer, clear spans and increasing the ceiling heights throughout.
Coupled with the desire for a large, show kitchen and the potential for a purpose built screening/cinema room within the property, the design looked to internalise the existing garage, extend the basic footprint further into the garden and maximise the amount of glazing to help break down the existing inside/outside divide. What is left is a clean, unobstructed space with a private, considered connection with nature.
